Status: Sold
A signed archival giclée by Kamran Khavarani (Iranian-American, b. 1941), the architect and painter credited by UCLA art historian Albert Boime as the founder of "Abstract Romanticism." Trained in the classical tradition and later transformed by the mystical poetry of the thirteenth-century Persian poet Rumi, Khavarani developed a lyrical abstract idiom of sweeping, luminous color. His work has been recognized by the Library of Congress and noted in the Congressional Record. Titled "Abstract Series," this composition is built from cascading ribbons of light — slender, calligraphic strokes of white, pale blue, and green sweep and tangle across a deep cobalt ground, suggesting reeds, currents, or grasses caught in moving water. The layered, gestural lines create a sense of depth and perpetual motion, immersing the viewer in the cool, oceanic atmosphere characteristic of the artist's finest work. Signed in gold script at the lower right. The piece is an archival glossy giclée mounted on acid-free foamboard (image approximately 20 x 29"), beautifully presented in a custom frame with mat under glass, framed dimensions 36 x 27". It is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist, confirming authorship and reproduction rights. A refined, immersive work by a recognized contemporary artist, accompanied by signed documentation — well suited to a collector of abstract art or a contemporary interior. 36 x 27" framed
