Part of Historic Manor Downsizing Auction (timed auction by Prime Auction Solutions)
Status: Sold
A Chinese famille rose–style porcelain vase-form table lamp, likely mid-20th century or later, decorated in overglaze enamels on a milky white ground. The baluster body rises to a waisted neck and is fitted with a brass-toned cap and standard socket assembly, presented on a shaped black plinth base. The painted program features vertical columns of Chinese calligraphy to the principal face, balanced by famille rose floral reserves and geometric borders. At the shoulder, a turquoise “diaper” lattice band is enriched with gilt-edged triangular lappets and small cartouches containing stylized blossoms, continuing in a band above the foot. On the neck appears a stylized taotie/monster-mask motif with pendant elements, a traditional archaistic reference frequently employed on decorative porcelains. Converted for use as a table lamp, the piece reads as a chinoiserie accent object suited to both classical and eclectic interiors, combining ornamental porcelain with warm metal fittings and a stable display base. Size: Approximately 24" H overall including hardware
