#6877 • Brass-Gallery Mahogany Bed/Tea Tray Table with Lyre-Form Base, with Canterbury Magazine Rack, 19" H & 16" H

Part of Historic Manor Downsizing Auction (timed auction by Prime Auction Solutions)

Status: No sale

A late 19th to early 20th century mahogany and brass occasional tray table, in the Regency taste, accompanied by a matching Canterbury-form magazine rack. The table is fitted with a rectangular, shallow tray top framed by a brass gallery, the field centered by a diamond-shaped line inlay. The tray is set over a sculptural lyre-form base with scrolling cutwork supports, the upright ornamented with three narrow inlaid stringing lines, and a shaped stretcher centered by an applied classical mask escutcheon in the manner of neoclassical ornament. The accompanying Canterbury presents as a compact, open-top rack of paneled construction, with shaped side rails and an arched divider featuring an oval handhold, suited to newspapers, folios, or sheet music. Expanded Description: Taken together, the ensemble reflects the enduring Edwardian and interwar revival of Regency motifs—brass-mounted service surfaces and lyre silhouettes—designed for practical drawing-room use while presenting a restrained decorative program typical of mahogany furniture intended for polite interiors. Size: 14 x 12 x 19" & 24 x 18 x 16" Bid per piece, final bid x 2
