#7244 • Florentine-Style Hand-Painted Two-Drawer Bombe Chest with Floral Panels and Rococo Pulls, 33"

Part of Historic Manor Downsizing Auction (timed auction by Prime Auction Solutions)

Status: Sold

An Italian Florentine-style polychrome-painted bombe chest of drawers, of compact two-drawer form, finished in warm faux-burl tones with crackle-glazed cartouches centering rose sprays. The serpentine drawer fronts are framed by scrolling linework and fitted with ornate Rococo-inspired foliate metal pulls, echoing the curved silhouette of the case. A shaped, overhanging top with softly undulating corners crowns the piece, while the sides continue the decorative program with trailing floral sprigs over a hatched faux-grain ground. The chest is raised on cabriole legs terminating in pad feet, lending an 18th-century revival profile suited to use as a commode, bedside chest, or accent piece. The overall effect is intentionally theatrical—combining painted ornament and sculpted form in the manner of mid-century Florentine decorative furniture made for glamorous interiors. Size: 42" x 18" x 33"
