Status: No sale

A decorative pair of Sèvres-style turquoise-ground porcelain covered vases, likely Continental, executed in an 18th-century revival taste. Each vase is of slender baluster form with waisted neck and domed cover, the lids surmounted by gilt-metal finials. The bodies are reserved with finely painted Rococo “fête galante” interiors—elegant figures in powdered wigs in salon settings, with musical and courtship motifs—framed by gilt borders and further enriched with extensive parcel-gilt ornament. The turquoise ground is embellished with tooled-looking gilt foliate bands, diaperwork, and scrolling cartouches, while the shoulders, rims, and bases are fitted with ornate gilt-metal collars and bands in classical and Rococo vocabulary (guilloche and leaf-and-berry). The interiors appear glazed in white, with the mounts functioning as decorative rims and collars. Presented as a coordinated pair, these vases suit mantel, console, or cabinet display in traditional or grand-manner interiors. Size: 16 x 16 x 69" Bid per piece, final bid x 2.
