Exceptional find! Rug displaying an Aubusson design in a soft pastel palette of pinks, powder blues, golds and sage. The layout centers on a radial medallion encircled by ornate cartouches, scrolling acanthus, and garlands of roses and mixed blossoms. Ground fields incorporate subtle diamond-textured fills while a broad, gilt-effect border frames the composition. Construction appears hand-knotted with dense pile and finely modelled shading that gives a tapestry-like relief to floral and foliate motifs. Colors are layered to emphasize depth and classical ornament; edges are finished with a matching woven selvage.
